The color rendering index of sunlight is 100, while the color rendering index of yellow high-pressure sodium lamps is only about 20. The color temperature of the LED light source can be arbitrarily selected between 4000-7000K, and the color rendering index is above 80, which is closer to the color of natural light. As for the color temperature of high pressure sodium lamps, white light is around 1900K. Because high-pressure sodium lamps are colored light with low color rendering, "color temperature" has no practical significance for sodium lamps.

2. The bulb of the high-pressure sodium lamp takes a long time to start, and it takes a certain time interval to start again. Generally, it takes about 5-10 minutes to reach normal brightness after power on, and it takes more than 5 minutes to restart. The LED light source does not have the problem of long startup time, can work at any time, and is easy to control.

3. For high-pressure sodium lamps, the utilization rate of the light source is only about 40%, and most of the light must be reflected by the reflector to illuminate the designated area. The utilization rate of the LED light source is about 90%, most of the light can be directly irradiated to the designated area, and only a small amount of light needs to be reflected.

4. The lifespan of ordinary high pressure sodium lamps is about 3000-5000 hours, while the lifespan of LED light sources can reach 30000-50000 hours. If the technology is more mature, the life of LED lights can reach 100,000 hours.

To sum up, LED light source seems to have more advantages for high pole lights produced by high pole light manufacturers. But we also need to know that the penetrating power of LED light source is far less than that of high-pressure sodium lamp, so in rainy and foggy areas, high-pressure sodium lamp is a better choice for high pole lights.
